Acrylic LandscapesOriginally from Montreal, Laura has found her forever retirement happy place in the South Okanagan wine country village of Naramata BC. Painting from her home studio, Laura participates year round in art shows which include venues in Calgary and Okanagan wineries, commercial settings as well as local galleries such as the Penticton Art Gallery and the Shatford Arts Centre, Penticton BC. As a member of the South Okanagan-Similkameen Chapter of the Federation of Canadian Artists, Laura produces beautiful landscapes in acrylic inspired by a wide range of locales. Inspired by local vineyards, hiking in the Canadian Rockies and travel to Tuscan villages and Baltic countries has influenced her paintings. Encouraged by her Mother Phyllis Gray who painted in oils to "just pick up a brush", she was mentored by the late SFCA artist Zelda Nelson in Canmore Alberta. Living in the mountains inspired Laura to capture light and colour, and although mainly self taught, Laura learns through watching nature's magic, workshops, books and dedicated time in her studio. The learning has "only just begun"...
Her work has been purchased by travellers she meets while painting pleine aire from Europe, Canadians from Newfoundland and western Canada.
